From May 5 to 7, the international pétanque tournament "Sakura-2023" took place in Uzhhorod
which was attended by more than 60 participants from different regions of Ukraine, as well as from Hungary, Austria, Germany, Lithuania and France. The competition was held in Bozdos Park and lasted three days.
On the first day of the tournament, singles competitions took place. After five rounds of qualifying games, the best 8 participants were determined, who continued the competition in the "A" tournament. The rest of the players were allocated to the "B" tournament. Petro Goys from Uzhhorod became the winner of the "A" tournament, who defeated another Uzhgorod resident, Ihor Sekhin, in the final. Lithuanian Linas Budrikas took third place. Volodymyr Keibalo from Poltava won the "B" tournament, Vytautas Gedminas from Lithuania won the second place, and Andrii Hanusych from Uzhhorod took the third place.
The next day, the doubles team competition took place. The competition took place according to the same scheme with selection. The team from Kyiv consisting of Dmytro Bugai and Serhiy Zhukovsky won the "A" tournament. The second place was won by the team from Germany, consisting of Oleksandr Koval and Florin Felten. Andriy Kamenev from Kharkiv and Veronika Khomenyuk from Lviv took the third place. In the "B" tournament, the team from Uzhhorod Lyudmila Fedoryshina and Dmytro Nesmyanovich from Kharkiv won. In second place was the team of Kateryna Brody and Ivan Hanusych. Mykola Stupak from Nizhyn and Leonid Bragin from Kharkiv came third.
The team consisting of Lyudmila Fedoryshina from Uzhhorod and Dmytro Nesmyanovich from Kharkiv won the "B" tournament. The team from Uzhhorod Kateryna Brody and Ivan Hanusych took second place, and Mykola Stupak from Nizhyn and Leonid Bragin from Kharkiv came in third.
On the last day of the tournament, the competition of teams of three took place. In the "A" tournament, the team from Lithuania, consisting of Linas Budrikas, Matas Gavrilčikas and Vytautas Gedminas, won. The second place was taken by the Hungarian team of Jozef Szabo, Eva Achoa and Austrian Stefan Federi, and the bronze medal was won by the team of Kharkiv's Valentyn Lemeshevskii, Vlad Godovanets and Olena Kolodiy from Uzhhorod.
