From September 17 to 19, the 2023 European Pétanque Championship among veterans was held in Albertville, France.
Ukraine was also represented by the national team consisting of Petr Goys, Oleksandr Zalomaykin, Vyacheslav Degtyarev and Mario Presutti - a player of the Uptown Petanque Club.
After 5 rounds of the "Swiss" (Ukraine - Latvia 6:13, Ukraine - Lithuania 13:3, Ukraine - Austria 13:3, Ukraine - Switzerland 6:13, Ukraine - Poland 2:13) our team "jumped" into 1/ 8 finals, taking 16th (passing) place. But at this stage, Ukraine lost its strongest opponent - the French national team. During the match, the Ukrainians were ahead 5:1, 7:5, but at the end of the game, the skill of the opponent took the upper hand - 13:7.After that, the French team easily reached the final, beating England and the Netherlands. In the main match of the tournament, the "tricolors" defeated the Monaco national team with a score of 13:7.
We congratulate the veteran national team of Ukraine on a successful performance at the European Championship. We are especially proud of Mario Presutti, who helped us achieve this result with his skillful play.
