Below are some short rules of petanque that are enough to understand the game. Two teams take part in the game. A team can consist of one, two, or three players. The game uses no more than 12 balls. If a team consists of one or two players, each of them plays with three balls. If a team consists of three players, then each player of such a team plays with two balls. When drawing lots, they choose which team starts playing first. This team draws a circle on the field with a diameter of about 30 cm. The player of the first team, standing in a circle, throws a wooden ball - a kitten at a distance of 6 to 10 meters but not closer than 50 cm from any obstacle. In this case, the player's legs must be inside the circle until the kitten stops. After the kit is thrown, any player of the first team throws the first ball, trying to place it as close to the box as possible. In this case, the legs of the throwing player must not protrude beyond the circle. After the first throw, the player of the second team becomes in the same circle and tries to throw his ball closer to the pocket or knock out the opponent's ball. The next throw is made by the team whose ball is farther from the pocket and throws its balls until one of its balls is closer to the box than any of the opponent's balls. Then the team of opponents makes throws. If the opponent's team has no balls left to throw, the other team throws their remaining balls, trying to place them as close as possible to the box. When the balls of both teams are thrown, points are counted. The winning team gets as many points as its balls are placed closer to the basket than the nearest ball of the opposing team. The round is considered over when each team has thrown all its balls. The winning team starts a new round by drawing a circle where the previous round's kitten fell, and throws the kit again and starts a new round. The game continues until one of the teams scores 13 points. Navedeni give enough insight into the game of petanque to start playing to enjoy petanque.
